What's the position?

The Senior Director of PMO Assurance is both a hands‑on expert Project Manager and the quality conscience of the PMO.

They set the standard for what good delivery looks like, ensuring Hard Rock Digital's projects are disciplined, transparent, and continuously improving, while directly leading some of the most complex, cross‑functional initiatives themselves.

This role blends strategy, structure, and execution: defining frameworks, embedding governance, improving tools and reporting, and personally managing key programmes to model best practice.

As one of the most experienced delivery professionals in the business, this person leads by doing: driving excellence, uncovering risks early, enabling smart decision‑making, and helping teams deliver with confidence and clarity.

They will also build and mentor a small, high‑impact team focused on delivery frameworks, tools, reporting, and continuous improvement, creating a culture where good delivery is simple, scalable, and value‑driven.

Key Accountabilities

  • Delivery Assurance Leadership
    • Own the delivery assurance strategy. Defining what "good delivery" looks like for project setup, governance, quality, and reporting.
    • Partner with teams, PMs, and senior stakeholders to embed consistent frameworks and standards across the business.
    • Act as the delivery conscience for major programmes. Providing assurance reviews, identifying risks early, and advising on course correction.
    • Shape a lightweight, sustainable governance rhythm that supports decision‑making without bureaucracy.
  • Hands‑On Program and Project Management
    • Personally lead and program‑manage high‑impact, cross‑functional initiatives - modelling best‑practice delivery.
    • Ensure delivery excellence through structure, cadence, and clarity of outcomes.
    • Build and maintain integrated delivery plans and dependency views across multiple business areas.
  • Tooling, Reporting Insight
    • Own and continuously improve the project delivery toolset (e.g., JIRA, Monday.com, Confluence, SharePoint) to connect delivery data from execution to strategy.
    • Develop accessible, reliable dashboards and reporting that support transparency and confident decision‑making at all levels.
    • Partner with Technology, Data, and Finance teams to ensure single‑source‑of‑truth reporting on project health, roadmap progress, and delivery KPIs.
  • Continuous Improvement & Culture
    • Establish a continuous improvement rhythm, capturing, tracking, and embedding lessons learned from across the portfolio.
    • Lead retrospectives, publish insights, and facilitate improvement actions that stick.
    • Champion a delivery culture focused on simplicity, discipline, and learning.
    • Ensure the PMO's communication cadence is clear, useful, and visible to the wider organisation - sharing wins, learnings, and progress regularly.
  • Key Outcomes
    • Reliable, accessible reporting for decisions and transparency
    • Consistent project setup and delivery standards across the business
    • Quality issues and risks identified early and addressed fast
    • Continuous improvement embedded in the delivery culture
    • Lean, value‑adding governance that improves outcomes, not admin load

What are we looking for?

Essential

  • Proven experience leading delivery assurance, portfolio governance, or PMO quality functions in a fast‑scaling tech, digital, or product organisation.
  • Deep hands‑on experience program managing complex, cross‑functional projects from initiation through to delivery.
  • Strong understanding of modern delivery frameworks (Agile, hybrid, scaled).
  • Skilled at developing simple, scalable frameworks and embedding them across diverse teams.
  • Expertise in connecting tools and data (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Monday.com, Power BI) to create clarity from complexity.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, able to work confidently from delivery teams to C‑suite.
  • Analytical and outcome‑driven mindset, with a natural curiosity for how delivery performance can be measured and improved.

Desirable

  • Experience setting up or maturing a PMO or Delivery Assurance function from the ground up.
  • Background in or exposure to technology, product development, or platform delivery environments.
  • Comfortable operating in an anti‑bureaucratic, high‑growth culture - pragmatic, diplomatic, and delivery‑obsessed.
  • Strong communication and storytelling ability to engage and align the wider organisation.

What Success Looks Like (6‑12 months)

  • A simple, shared delivery framework adopted across major programmes.
  • Automated, accurate delivery health dashboards live and used by leadership.
  • Clear, automated reporting – one stop shop for information on roadmaps and progress.
  • Active pipeline of continuous improvement initiatives with measurable impact.
  • Clear visibility of risks, progress, and dependencies across the portfolio.
  • PMs and teams report higher confidence in delivery predictability and transparency.
  • The PMO is recognised as an enabler of better delivery, not an administrator of process.
