This role is to join the National Investigations Team as a Senior Environmental Crime Officer within the National Environmental Crime Unit. The role involves coordinating and leading investigations into serious environmental crime in collaboration with Senior Investigation Managers and the Major Incident Room.
As part of your induction you will be provided with all the equipment required for your role. This is a hybrid working role with flexibility to work from home and from your nearest Environment Agency Office, with travel for meetings and operational duties as required.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate investigations into serious and complex environmental crimes, including identifying lines of enquiry, reviewing intelligence, raising and allocating actions, coordinating evidence gathering and interviews, and preparing case files for prosecution.
- Work with Partnership Organisations and develop investigative teams and complex investigations.
- Collaborate with Senior Investigation Managers and the Major Incident Room to drive investigations forward and contribute to team development.
- Respond to incidents as part of business continuity and incident roles, with associated training and workplace adjustments provided.
Experience and Skills
- High attention to detail, hard-working and self-motivated with a strong investigative background.
- In-depth knowledge of investigative legislation such as PACE and CPIA; excellent verbal and written communication; basic IT competency (Microsoft Word, Excel and Teams).
- Knowledge of environmental crime, leading serious criminal investigations, and workings of a Major Incident Room is desirable.
- Experience in driving, building and developing investigation teams; ability to lead on complex investigations and find solutions.
Role Requirements
- Full Driving Licence is required.
- Successful completion of SC and NPPV2 Vetting processes within the 6-month probationary period.
Working Arrangements
Hybrid working with home and office, with travel for meetings and operational duties. Incident response may be required and will be supported with training and adjustments as needed.
