About Ofgem

Ofgem is a non-ministerial government department and National Regulatory Authority. Our principal objective is to protect the interests of existing and future electricity and gas consumers. We achieve this by promoting value for money and security of supply and facilitating the development of innovative technology. We are an independent organisation but work with government, the energy industry and other stakeholders within a legal framework determined by the UK government.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Finance Business Partner to play a pivotal role in shaping financial strategy and supporting effective delivery across our organisation.

Role responsibilities

In this senior role, you will lead the development of budgeted delivery plans, ensuring spend is prioritised against agreed objectives. You will oversee medium-term financial planning and spending review activities, monitor in-year performance, and support delivery against financial targets.

A key part of your remit will be to provide accurate, insightful management information to inform decision-making. You will advise on budget assumptions, cost and workforce management, and compliance requirements. You will also maintain oversight of financial risks, identify priority investment opportunities, and manage spend control mechanisms.

You will champion continuous improvement and play a vital role in enhancing the financial and commercial capability of non-finance colleagues across the organisation.

About You

  • Proven experience in senior-level financial business partnering and strategic planning.
  • Strong technical finance expertise, with a track record of driving performance and value for money.
  • Fully qualified CCAB or CIMA accountant.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and advise senior financial and non-financial colleagues.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data clearly and persuasively.
  • Deep understanding of cost drivers, workforce strategy, data management and modelling.

We are serious about professional development and support. You can also expect an excellent benefits package, great working environment and a shared sense of purpose.

We welcome candidates from all backgrounds, and especially welcome individuals from underrepresented groups. While this is a full-time role, flexible working patterns are welcome.
