About the role:
Devon and Cornwall and Dorset Policing Alliance are looking to recruit a Specialist Practitioner in Occupational Health (SCPHN) working for an in-house Occupational Health provision delivering the full remit of Occupational Health.
The successful applicant will work as a senior member of staff within the Occupational Health team providing a high quality, evidence based clinical advisory service to Managers, Staff and Officers of Devon & Cornwall Police. The staff member will advise on physical and psychological aspects of fitness for work, giving general health and wellbeing guidance and providing support to internal and external customers / contractors. S/he will become familiar with the wide range of roles within the police based on personal experience during induction and as a proactive team member. The Centre for Work and Health is a highly integrated and valued part of the organisation with a leading role in strategic and operational delivery of the wellbeing strategy.
A key function of the role will be to deputise for the Occupational Health Nurse Consultant and potentially the Lead Occupational Health Nurse Consultant, and act as a role model in demonstrating high standards of clinical care, providing leadership, mentorship and clinical supervision to the Occupational Health team on all matters pertaining to service delivery and people management health and wellbeing support.
We are looking for a committed, enthusiastic and driven individual with proven experience of building relationships. Working within an in house Occupational Health team you will receive all the support you need from our senior management team.
This is a unique time to join the Police. The Police Uplift programme marks the start of a new collaboration between the Government and Police working together to protect the public. This work is critical as policing landscapes evolve.
This presents the perfect opportunity for Occupational Health to make a real difference. Working regionally with the other Forces in the South West of England gives the opportunity for inter-Force support. This enables us to seamlessly support Officers and Staff experiencing psychological or physical ill health but also to work closely with our counterparts in other Forces. The occupational health service makes a significant contribution to the national police wellbeing agenda. This promotes the best practices within Occupational Health but also enables us to support one another.
