About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a remote-first role, with occasional travel to our Manchester office as required. You'll be working on mission-critical infrastructure, helping us maintain, secure, and evolve our platforms using modern DevOps tooling and best practices.

You'll play a key role in building and supporting scalable, secure, and high-performing infrastructure primarily in AWS, while also supporting on-prem or hybrid components. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working across a wide range of technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement and manage infrastructure in AWS, using services including but not limited to:
• VPC, EC2, EBS, Route 53, WAF, ALB/ELB, Security Groups, NACLs, KMS, S3
• Maintain and enhance infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform, Packer, and Puppet
• Contribute to CI/CD processes using GitLab CI
• Monitor infrastructure and application performance with Prometheus and Grafana
• Manage and analyse logs using the ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana)
• Secure the infrastructure using tools like Vault, Tenable, and integrate security scanning tools like Blackduck, Checkmarx, SonarQube
• Support and manage Linux systems (RHEL/CentOS)
• Work with databases including MongoDB and MySQL
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including DevOps, Security, and Development to ensure reliable, scalable and secure infrastructure

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with AWS and deep understanding of core services
• Proficiency in Linux administration (preferably RHEL/CentOS)
• Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Puppet, Packer)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, particularly GitLab CI
• Working knowledge of scripting and automation with Python
• Familiarity with security scanning and vulnerability management tools (e.g., Tenable, Blackduck, Checkmarx, SonarQube)
• Strong understanding of networking, security principles, and cloud-native security
• Solid experience with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)
• Experience managing or supporting relational and non-relational databases (MySQL, MongoDB)
• Must be eligible for BPSS clearance
