Overview
Save the Children International has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Lead, Safety & Security - Asia and Global Road Safety to join our global team.
Role and responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation and monitoring of safety and security management governance, policies, procedures and systems to minimise risks to staff, programmes, assets and the organisation's reputation across ASIA.
- Facilitate locally led Global Safety & Security (GSS) trainings, including HEAT and Health and Safety training, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility for all staff.
- Ensure continuous development and internal quality assurance (IQA) of training curriculums and materials to maintain high-quality training programmes.
- Support health and safety plans and risk assessments for all training programmes and facilities within Asia, ensuring a secure and compliant training environment.
- Act as the Global Safety and Security Technical Lead for road safety, collaborating with Fleet Management and the Global Health and Safety and Security manager.
- Build and maintain an external network of road safety experts to leverage best practices and collaboration.
- Support country offices and global teams in Road Safety, including awareness, campaigning, reporting and investigation to reduce road traffic incidents.
Experience and Skills
- Considerable experience in Safety and Security Management, including work in conflict or volatile environments within the Asia region.
- Proven experience in training design and delivery for diverse audiences.
- Extensive experience in risk management, including risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
- Ability to travel to high-risk countries as required; strong local/regional understanding preferred.
- Leadership and management capability, with ability to drive a safety and security agenda through inclusive leadership.
- Strong communication, incident response, and cultural competency skills.
Education, Qualifications and Desirable
- Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, International Relations, Humanitarian Affairs, or related field; Master’s degree is an asset.
- English language proficiency; Arabic desirable.
- Professional certifications in safety and security management (e.g., CPP, CSM) and desirable health and safety certifications (e.g., NEBOSH).
- Desirable: HEAT instructor certification and training development/leadership experience.
