Senior Legal Counsel - Employment (Banking)

What you'll do:
- Provide comprehensive legal advice and support to Human Resources and business units on all aspects of employment, incentives, and pensions issues, including recruitment processes, policy development, diversity matters, change management programmes, investigations, disputes resolution, compensation structures, benefits administration, and pension schemes.
- Develop and implement robust legal strategies for risk management and compliance that align with organisational objectives while ensuring adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
- Represent the organisation in legal proceedings related to employment matters such as litigation before Employment Tribunals, arbitration hearings, and regulatory investigations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents including employee contracts, severance agreements, incentive plans documentation, pension policies, and other employment-related materials.
What do you need to be successful?
- UK qualified solicitor or an equivalent commonwealth jurisdiction with proven experience advising large employer clients on complex employment law matters.
- Demonstrated technical excellence in employment law including substantial experience handling Employment Tribunal litigation cases from inception through resolution.
- Exceptional communication skills enabling you to influence outcomes positively when negotiating or advising diverse stakeholder groups within a large organisation.
- Track record of developing practical solutions for risk management and compliance challenges associated with employment practices across multiple jurisdictions.
- Desirable: Experience working within financial services (either in-house or as external counsel) plus familiarity advising on regulatory issues related to employment; confidence supporting corporate transactional activity involving workforce considerations.
