As Senior Legal Counsel, you will support the Head of Legal Operations in managing the Legal Operations department on an interim basis for The Adaptavist Group. The role will deputise for the Head of Legal Operations from time to time, providing strategic and commercial legal guidance, overseeing governance, and ensuring global compliance during this transitional period. You will work closely with the CEO, COO and other senior executives, as well as cross-functional teams to align legal strategy with the company’s objectives. You will oversee legal aspects of company operations, including governance of a complex global entity structure, risk management, employment law, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance. You will temporarily manage a legal team of two direct reports.

What you'll be doing
- Strategy and Leadership: Deputise for the Head of Legal Operations, provide strategic vision and temporary oversight for all legal matters; interim line management for a team of two; advise CEO and executive leadership on legal, governance and risk issues; support development and implementation of global legal strategy aligned with business objectives; build and manage a high-performing legal and compliance team over time.
- Corporate Governance and Compliance: Oversee corporate governance for the global entity structure; manage company secretarial responsibilities, board minutes, appointments/resignations, shareholder matters and share option schemes; ensure regulatory filings and compliance for global entities; monitor legal changes affecting global operations.
- Legal Advice and Risk Management: Provide legal advice across departments (IP, employment, regulatory compliance); manage legal risk while balancing innovation and liability; handle crisis management with HR on employment matters; develop and maintain policies and procedures to mitigate risk.
- Commercial and Operational Support: Assist with contracts, leases, and legal document templates; lead/support mergers and acquisitions as needed (due diligence, contract negotiation, post‑acquisition integration); collaborate with product and marketing to ensure data protection and IP compliance.
- Regulatory and Compliance Oversight: Ensure global compliance with data protection regulations (GDPR, CCPA and others); draft policies for data breaches and compliance with CIO and People Operations; promote awareness and training on legal and compliance matters with HR and PEX.
- Corporate Social Responsibility: Lead development and execution of CSR initiatives with the AdaptaKind team, aligning with legal and ethical standards.
Qualifications
- Qualified Solicitor with PQE in employment, IP, regulatory compliance and corporate law.
- Strategic mindset with ability to align legal strategies with business objectives.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and management skills; ability to influence and collaborate across levels.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Commercially aware and pragmatic approach to risk management.
- Ability to handle sensitive matters discreetly; confident in negotiating contracts and documentation.
