Join to apply for the Senior Lifestyle Designer role at Papier
Location: 3 days per week at our Central London office, Maison Papier
Team: Design
Salary: Competitive, with comprehensive benefits
At Papier, we believe in the power of the blank page. Since the business was founded in London in 2015, we’ve been crafting beautifully designed stationery—from journals and planners to wedding invitations—that inspire creativity and meaningful connections. With over £60 million raised and a growing presence in the UK, US and beyond, we’re on a mission to make everyday moments noteworthy.
The Role
At Papier, the Senior Lifestyle Product Designer will create trend-setting, design-led lifestyle products that extend Papier’s brand world beyond paper — spanning accessories, desk objects, and other lifestyle products. You’ll own the end-to-end design process — from research and concept through to development — ensuring that every product is functional, desirable, and aligned with our creative vision. This role combines deep product design expertise with an understanding of materials, manufacturing, and global lifestyle trends. You’ll work closely with the Chief Product Officer, Head of Design, and cross-functional teams across Creative, Commercial, and Sourcing to help evolve Papier into a globally recognised lifestyle brand.
What we're looking for in the successful candidate
- 7+ years’ experience in product design and development across lifestyle, accessories, or stationery categories.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and materials across both soft and hard goods.
- Proven track record of developing commercially successful, design-led lifestyle products.
- Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and 3D software (Rhino, Keyshot).
- Excellent drawing, CAD, and prototyping skills with acute attention to detail.
- Exceptional design research and trend analysis skills.
- Strong communication, organisation, and critical path management abilities.
- Self-starter with a flexible, collaborative, and solution-oriented approach.
- Passion for design, culture, and craftsmanship — and for translating these into tangible, beautiful products.
Design Ideation
- Lead the ideation and design of lifestyle stationery and accessory products that are both functional and aspirational.
- Research and interpret emerging lifestyle, design, and cultural trends to inform new product directions.
- Present design concepts and prototypes confidently, clearly articulating the design rationale, material choices, and commercial intent.
- Bring creative innovation and curiosity to each brief — constantly pushing design boundaries within Papier’s brand aesthetic.
Product Development
- Own the full product development process from concept to production — including prototyping, sampling, and design refinement.
- Work closely with sourcing and supplier partners (UK, Europe, and Asia) to develop high-quality soft and hard goods, ensuring feasibility, durability, and commercial viability.
- Define technical specifications, materials, finishes, and packaging requirements in collaboration with Operations and Tech teams.
- Build sustainability and circular design thinking into every product decision, balancing material innovation with commercial reality.
- Partner with the Creative and Marketing teams to ensure product stories align with brand campaigns and seasonal creative direction.
- Collaborate with the Commercial team to achieve a balance between design innovation and commercial success.
- Communicate clearly and proactively with internal and external stakeholders to keep projects on track managing timelines and deliverables with precision.
- Support the Head of Design in maintaining a high standard of quality, creativity, and consistency across the full lifestyle range.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Uphold excellent design and production standards, ensuring all products reflect Papier’s craftsmanship and attention to detail.
- Conduct competitive benchmarking and quality reviews to ensure Papier remains distinctive in the category.
- Seek constant improvement in design execution, material choices, and processes to push the brand forward.
