Manchester Royal Eye Hospital invites applications for a 12-month Vitreoretinal Research Fellowship. There is one vacancy in total, starting in February 2027.
The Fellowship is part of the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, England’s largest NHS Trust. The VR unit provides a 24/7 tertiary referral service to other ophthalmic units in the North West of England. The role includes dedicated VR research sessions, attendance at specialist tertiary referral clinics and dedicated VR operating sessions under the direction of Consultant trainers.
Applicants should be a trainee Ophthalmologist seeking advanced sub‑speciality training in vitreoretinal research, with the opportunity to be involved in new and established research projects within the department. The Fellow will also have the opportunity to acquire early surgical and clinical vitreoretinal skills appropriate to proceeding to a major clinical vitreoretinal fellowship either within the UK or internationally. Previous experience of vitreoretinal surgery is not essential.
