We’re growing and want you to be a part of our journey. This role is within Isio’s Actuarial & Consulting team, which includes over 400 pensions consultants and actuaries advising clients across private, public and not-for-profit sectors.
This role specifically focuses on post-transaction risk settlement within our Risk Settlement team, which provides full insurance de-risking services for Trustees and Sponsors of Defined Benefit pension schemes and services to insurers. Isio is a market leader in this area, having completed around 1 in 6 bulk annuity transactions in 2024.
Role growth is a strategic priority for Isio, offering opportunities in a dynamic area that supports evolving market needs.
Role and Responsibilities
We’re looking for experienced consultants with relevant post-transaction risk settlement experience to help grow this specialist team. The role requires a combination of pensions consulting, technical capability, commercial outlook and an entrepreneurial mindset.
Day to day you will:
- Manage a variety of pension schemes from buy-in through to buyout and wind-up.
- Use project management skills to support clients in navigating the wind-up journey, collaborating with multiple stakeholders.
- Build relationships with clients and prospective clients, their advisors and the risk-settlement team to ensure smooth progress of projects.
- Work with and build relationships with clients directly, operate as part of a team, and develop those around you.
- Assist in the development of new business with existing and new clients.
- Technical responsibilities include understanding the pensions insurance industry, processes for wind-up and buyout, supporting clients through post-transaction processes to wind-up, and producing clear communications.

- Experience – relevant post-transaction risk settlement industry experience.
- Technical knowledge – strong UK pensions knowledge and experience of legislative requirements for pension scheme wind-ups.
- Communication – ability to explain complex problems clearly to stakeholders.
- Enthusiasm and motivation – desire for solving problems and delivering excellent outcomes.
- Project management and client delivery – ability to balance multiple demands.
- Teamwork – ability to work within a team or manage a team, depending on experience.
- Commercial skills – to develop the business and identify opportunities.
- Qualifications – a formal actuarial qualification may be beneficial but is not essential.

Location and Working Model
Risk Settlement team locations include Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Croydon, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Manchester and Reading. We operate on a hybrid basis, with time split between office and home.
