The role
As a Senior Mechanical Designer, you will have a role that is out of the ordinary. You will serve as a point of contact with professional engineering colleagues and various stakeholders for discipline-related issues during the design lifecycle. You will contribute to design reviews and ensure coordination and functionality of the design.
Day-to-day, you will allocate discipline tasks to an allocated team of Designers, check team drawing outputs, and ensure inter-discipline coordination in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
You will promote effective cooperation across Design and other functional teams.
You will assist in effective management of the customer, including liaison and relationship development with existing and new customers, to aid business development, resolve technical and delivery issues, and keep the customer fully briefed and informed of progress.
You will advise and assist in selecting the correct methods and tools for tasks and provide technical assistance to the team of Designers.
You will contribute to the preparation and production of drawings in support of basic, detail, and production design in line with recognised ISO standards and to the required time, cost, and quality standards.
Essential experience of the Senior Mechanical Designer
- Experience in a detailed design environment.
- Good knowledge of CAD tools.
- Knowledge of General Engineering Drawing Practice.
- Incorporated Engineer status.
- Demonstrable experience in technically leading a multi-disciplined design team.
Qualifications for the Senior Mechanical Designer
- HNC/HND minimum in a relevant discipline OR equivalent academic qualification.
- ICF (Integrated Competency Framework) to be demonstrated or being worked towards.
- Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance for this role.
