We are now recruiting for the role of Senior Project Controls Manager to be involved in a developing a global supply chain and creating opportunities for the wider industry.
Role Purpose
Leading a team of project controls managers, and wider senior cost and planning resources (plus other key roles matrixed in from the PMO) to establish a service to the Project Director and Heads of Programme across RRSMR delivery. Matrixed into the delivery teams for operational service but functionally reporting to the Head of Portfolio Management to ensure the professional standards are consistently applied.
Ownership of all project controls processes specific to the project and supporting the capability lead to ensure best practice is maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the oversight and review of key cost, schedule and risk information required for internal and client reporting. Finalise and review reports prior to submission to Client. Providing key insight.
- Produce and manage KPI reports at Programme level.
- Ensure projects are monitored effectively
- Liaise with the different Programme Managers in the preparation of updated Performance Reports. Provide leadership in systems implementation to improve efficiency.
- Managing project control team in order to support Risk Manager to implement Risk processes in programme.
- Lead and mentor a team of project controls professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and development opportunities.
- Work closely with the other support functions on a day-to-day basis providing support as required. Including Finance, Procurement, Commercial, Estimating, etc.
- Support teams with cost planning, providing knowledge and experience.
- Creating reports (PowerBI reports is advantageous).
- Support, promote and engage in company culture programmes to create a leading and positive culture.
- Perform tasks and duties in accordance with training and instruction whilst taking care of their own health & safety and those of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions.
- Operate in a matrix arrangement across the business with a significant number of stakeholders.
Enterprise Reporting
Experienced within a PMO environment, monthly drumbeats and production of reporting for various stakeholders. Understands the appropriate levels of data within the Company, the varying requirements and the ability to adapt to the needs of the stakeholders. Direct support to the project director/head of programme.
Project and Programme Reporting
Experience in all levels of reporting based on the customer requirements, the ability to integrate data and analyse performance. Must have customer mindset and communication skills to support the desired PMO service. The ability to present visual reporting which can capture the performance of a project/programme. ‘the story’. Proficient in risk, schedule, change, cost at practitioner level.
Leadership
Demonstrable experience in leadership, understands the need to adapt management information to different audiences and can interact well with people across the organisation, adapting approach to interact effectively with Senior PMO Leadership Team members, engineers, support services or graduates and apprentices.
Ability to manage stakeholders and information flow in a matrix environment, possessing a strong aptitude toward working horizontally across business areas and vertically to senior levels of management, providing specialist advice as required.
Cost & Schedule Management Best Practice
Knowledge and experience of applying of utilising cost and schedule management best practices. Ability to support the team with evolving stakeholder requirements and visible metrics to help provide strategic direction to facilitate clear decision making.
Collaboration and Behaviours
Experienced collaborator, able to build relationships internally within the PMO function, wider business and parent organisation as well as with external stakeholders. Understand the risk contribution to the monthly reporting process and the importance of articulating accurate information. Able to run Schedule development meetings and updates. Capability to run schedule analysis and critical path determination.
Beneficial Experience, Training Or/and Qualifications
- Degree qualified or equivalent – with extensive Project Controls Management experience.
- Experience of working on large scale nuclear or other major infrastructure projects.
- Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., APM, ACostE) or working towards

Pay And Benefits
We anticipate paying a salary of between £68,000 - £89,000 DOE plus:-
- Bonus - Performance related target opportunity 17%
- Benefits Allowance – £5,000 per annum, enabling you to create a bespoke package
- Pension - 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
- Holidays - 28 days holiday (+ public holidays) and the ability to buy or sell up to 4 days.
- Private Medical Insurance - BUPA single cover health care
- Life Assurance - 6x pensionable pay
- £250 - One-off payment for new starters for home office purchases
