Overview

The Innovation Delivery Group (IDG) is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our dynamic team. You will provide leadership for projects within the IDG portfolio, work closely with key stakeholders, and direct the project team. You will be accountable for project performance throughout its lifecycle, ensuring high-quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide project leadership and oversight for the project team, which may include project managers, project support officers, technical specialists, design consultants, and contractors. Mentor and coach team members and adjust involvement to suit team strength.
  • Lead projects within the Innovation Delivery Group (IDG) portfolio, ensuring delivery on time, budget, and quality; engage with stakeholders and manage project performance across the lifecycle.

Experience / Skills Required

Essential:
  • Significant experience leading complex projects or programmes, ideally in engineering, construction, asset management, and/or flood & coastal risk management.
  • Formal project management training with substantial experience applying tools, techniques, and processes across a project lifecycle.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in contract management and procurement.
  • Extensive experience in project financial management and forecasting.
  • Experience influencing and managing senior stakeholders and developing effective stakeholder engagement plans.
  • Strong report writing skills with experience producing business cases.
  • Technical knowledge and leadership in risk management and health & safety compliance.
Desirable:
  • Chartered membership of a relevant body (e.g., ICE, CIWEM or APMP).
  • Training/experience with NEC contracts.
  • Experience preparing Scope of Services for appraisal and construction contract awards.
  • Project management qualifications such as Prince2 Practitioner or APM PMQ.
