Job Overview

Job Overview

The role will involve consultation, education and training on low intensity interventions as well as carrying a clinical caseload, and applicants should be committed to promoting staff wellbeing and supporting staff development.
Experience of involvement with the voluntary sector and community organisations for outreach work, especially in under-represented, diverse and marginalised groups, will be welcomed, as will experience of working with long term health conditions, young people, older adults, perinatal work and improving access for men.
Main duties of the job
Applicants will be qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners from an accredited Low intensity course, & at least one year extensive post-qualification experience working with adults with a range of mental health problems & complexities, within a diverse population. Applications are encouraged from PWPs who can deliver therapy in other languages. Successful candidates would be involved in carrying out regular service audits and other duties delegated by Step-2 Lead and Clinical Lead.
This post requires a high level of communication skills, including effective liaison with key staff both within service & the wider organisation & NHS. The post holder must be able to demonstrate the ability to work under pressure within a new role in an expanding service and support the senior management team in reviewing protocols and systems and implementation of new pathways for referral screening and allocation.
The post holder will be expected to participate in extended hours clinics once a week offered by the service which include early morning and late evening clinics from 8 am to 8 pm. They will receive regular clinical as well as case management supervision and support from the Step 2 Lead and qualified High Intensity therapists.
Working for our organisation
The team has close links with teams within Harrow Mental Health Services and other Talking Therapies IAPT services within CNWL. There are also wider links with other services within CNWL Foundation Trust and the Trust-wide clinical psychology services.
We currently have a 20/80 split of F2F and remote appointments, and so can offer very generous hybrid working and flexible working options. We can also be flexible with your working hours and you will receive regular supervision, appraisal and opportunities to develop as a practitioner.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
CNWL Talking Therapies Service Harrow is a large and well established team which has good training and development links and consistently meets its targets and the needs of the local population. Alongside high and low intensity CBT interventions, the service also has a Step 3 Counselling and Relational Therapies provision. Individual and group based treatments are provided as well as couples based interventions, including work within Perinatal services and Post Covid recovery provisions.

Essential criteria
- Must have a qualification from PWP Training Course from a BABCP accredited provider (Post Graduate Certificate or Level 3 undergraduate course)
- A qualification or substantial experience in professional supervision
- Further post graduate CBT training in relevant areas of professional psychology, health, social science, and/or research design and analysis
Essential criteria
- Significant post qualification experience as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner
- Experience of supervising low intensity workers and trainees
- Consolidated and reflective supervised post-qualification experience, preferably in NHS or Social Services setting
- Substantial experience of using IAPT us to record patient data
- Substantial experience of providing a range of low intensity interventions within an IAPT service, to people with common mental health problems
- Experience of working by telephone, face-to-face with individual service users and facilitating groups and group based interventions
- Experience and knowledge of risk assessment and risk management
- Evidence of experience and knowledge of signposting to other services including secondary care mental health services
- Evidence of working with people with a range of mental health problems and presentations
- Experience of managing a large workload and individual caseload
- Research / audit experience.
- Evidence of having worked in a service where agreed targets were in place to demonstrate effective clinical outcomes.
- Experience and knowledge of alternative treatment approaches including counselling
- Experience of working in Primary Care Services.
- Evidence of working in the local community
- Experience of working with older people/long term health conditions/carers
- Experience of screening, assessing and working with a wide spectrum of mental health issues and working with people with moderate common mental health problems
- Evidence of working within a service development role and the ability to co-ordinate across the service.

- Evidence-based practice/clinical governance
- Models of assessment, screening, referral, record keeping and evidence-based brief psychological intervention
- Knowledge of outcome measures and their use for clinical and audit purposes
- Knowledge of Child Protection and safeguarding legislation
- High level communication skills: written and verbal, including telephone skills
- An ability to communicate and work in settings in which the atmosphere may be highly emotive
- Ability to communicate sensitive information to patients, carers and colleagues in a way that addresses psychological resistance.
- An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with mental health problems.
- An ability to apply existing psychological knowledge to a mental health context
- An understanding of psychology applied to health care.
- An ability to evaluate and put in place the effect of training.
- Computer literate.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to work within a team and foster good working relationships
- Ability to use clinical supervision and personal development positively and effectively
