A fantastic opportunity is available for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the major contracts team.
As an integral part of the business, the quantity surveyors work on a wide range of commercial, leisure, and hospitality projects, varying greatly in budget, size, and complexity. They play a key role in managing project costs and profitability throughout the project lifecycle, whether small or large, while maintaining client trust and building professional relationships.
The day-to-day duties will include:
- Taking accurate briefing notes from clients to enable robust pricing, including check measures.
- Being a key member of the Quantity Surveying team, working with a positive attitude to foster inter-departmental synergy.
- Taking off drawings and producing accurate Bills of Quantities/Scope of Works.
- Managing subcontractor and supplier procurement, including detailed analysis.
- Producing and updating procurement trackers.
- Preparing and issuing contracts.
- Conducting regular site visits.
- Liaising and negotiating with external and internal stakeholders.
- Monitoring, valuing, capturing, and agreeing variations in line with contract requirements.
- Producing valuations according to contract specifications.
- Monitoring and reporting on key profit opportunities and concerns.
- Managing waste reduction on projects.
- Producing, maintaining, and presenting accurate Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) in a timely manner.
- Handling project costing from concept to completion, including estimating, final accounts, and CVR reporting, with effective subcontract and supplier management.
- Reconciliation and approval of invoicing.
- Collaborating with intercompany departments throughout the project.
- Producing accurate and timely final accounts.
- Completing full project tenders when applicable.
- Keeping project folders up to date on the company Egnyte server.
Required Skills and Experience
- Confident, approachable team player.
- Aligned with company culture and values to promote synergy.
- Strong attention to detail and good personal time management.
- Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying.
- Ideally 10+ years of Quantity Surveying experience in construction roles.
- Strong decision-making and negotiation skills with stakeholders.
- Proficient in MS Excel and IT systems.
- Full driving license.
