Freelance Quantity Surveyor – NEC Option C (Remote | Outside IR35 | Tier 1 Contractor)

A Tier 1 contractor delivering a major highways project is seeking an experienced Freelance Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial team with a high volume of subcontractor Compensation Events (CEs).

With a smaller-than-planned commercial team and a significantly larger scope of work, the client is now looking to bring in an NEC-savvy QS to help assess and close out 150–200 CE submissions.

Responsibilities:

• Review subcontractor Compensation Events to determine CE validity (Yes/No) and justify decisions clearly

• Check allocation sheets for correct rates and scope alignment

• Support the commercial team by reducing and organising the outstanding workload

• Ensure assessments are in line with NEC Option C contract processes

Requirements:

• Proven experience with NEC Option C contracts (essential)

• Highways or infrastructure project background (preferred)

• Ability to work independently and remotely

• Strong commercial and analytical skills – confident reviewing rates and contract application
