Hours of work
37.5 hours per week (hours of work will be flexible and dictated by the needs of the business, therefore it is expected that the successful applicant will work those hours necessary to successfully discharge the duties of the role).
The Role
Overview
The Senior Risk Manager will report to the Head of Risk, with the successful candidate responsibilities including:
- To support the business in developing and ensuring that the risk management framework is communicated and embedded in all areas of the business.
- To be proactive and work with the business to help it navigate uncertainty, change and complexity and meet regulatory expectations.
- To support and provide advice to first line to implement and embed the risk management framework
- Provide challenge to the Level 1 Policy maintenance to ensure Pure legal & regulatory requirements are appropriately reflected, including, quarterly policy update cycle to support the annual review process
- Ensure risk is considered in first line change and IT project activity
- Provide operational risk advise/challenge/validation of business risk registers
- Roll-out of a 6 monthly/annual risk and control register self-assessment
- Develop an annual control assurance/testing plan and appropriate reporting
- Support the risk appetite embedding & monitoring through engagement with SLT Direct Reports and wider business
- Provide risk expertise in relevant operational and management meetings
- Provide risk oversight, challenge, and support
- Lead and develop all colleague risk training
- Minute Board Risk & Audit Committee
- Working with relevant stakeholders, implement controls to mitigate identified risks (or to bring inside tolerance)
- Instilling a Risk Culture of continuous improvement, transparency of issues and operational excellence
- Provide oversight and support to business teams on the identification and management of risk.
- Provide oversight of adherence to both internal policies, processes, and procedures.
- Support the Head of Risk with horizon scanning to identify emerging risk.

Skills. Experience & Qualifications
Mandatory
- A balance of skills and experience from across risk management disciplines
- Substantial experience in leading the development and implementation of well-thought-out risk management solutions, ideally gained within financial services
- Experience in risk management processes and frameworks, disclosures, and supporting data and infrastructure
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong academic background
- Experience in the mechanisms of a holistic enterprise risk framework
- Clear understanding of the FCA regulatory landscape and knowledge of developments impacting financial services
- Experience in the mortgage lending field and in particular the Lifetime Mortgage sub-sector
