Overview
GitHub helps companies and organizations succeed by enabling them to build better software, together. We're looking for a Service Delivery Engineer to help our Expert Services team solve our customers' needs. The ideal candidate will have the aptitude and passion to become a master of GitHub's product capabilities and underlying technologies. We need a high performing engineering consultant to help our customers improve their software delivery. This person will solve challenges with many different technologies and work closely with our customers, as well as GitHub's internal departments.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and evaluate performance and support readiness in delivery quality for customers and specific internal teams
- Share technical expertise and contribute to the success of the team by providing coaching and role readiness training
- Continue to evolve product knowledge to prepare for new product releases
- Drive services pre-sales and scoping exercises to position GitHub value drivers to customers by focusing on customer outcomes
- Enhance customer adoption of the GitHub platform while achieving targeted average billable utilization and Customer Satisfaction goals
- Serve as a trusted advisor to customers, helping solve increasingly complex technical issues
- Provide advice to customers and partners during engagements
- Manage client expectations, scope of work, and draft change orders as needed
- Complete service delivery engagements within time and budget, while meeting customer expectations
- Develop repeat business by positioning the value of future services delivery phases
- Collaborate on cross-team and cross-product technical issues by working with resources from other groups
- Help drive top organizational priorities by working with managers, engineers, product teams, and other stakeholders
- Engage and collaborate with other GitHub groups to gain resolution for critical, complex issues
- Advocate for product improvements based on customer feedback
- Build communities to resolve customer and partner issues
- Understand customer goals and help create tailored solutions
- Provide technical clarity regarding an array of technologies
- Help customers make informed decisions by weighing critical technical solutions
- Create high-quality, reusable solutions for customers
- Build solutions such as migrating source code from legacy systems, creating CI/CD pipelines, or automating infrastructure provisioning
Qualifications
- 7+ years experience in technical consulting, software development, application security, or related field
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology (IT), Computer Science, Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years experience in technical consulting, software development, application security, or related field
- OR equivalent experience
- 1+ year(s) experience leading customer projects
- Experience in Software Development or DevOps
- In-depth knowledge of the Git version control system
- 9+ years experience in technical consulting, software development, application security, or related field
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology (IT), Computer Science, Engineering, or related field AND 7+ years experience
- OR Master's Degree in Information Technology (IT), Computer Science, Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years experience
- 3+ years experience leading customer projects
- 3+ years experience in technical consulting
- Familiarity with the GitHub platform and associated workflows or familiarity with legacy version control systems (SVN, CVS, ClearCase, AccuRev, etc.)
- Strong experience with AI-assisted coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to accelerate and improve software development workflows
- Business proficient Spanish language skills
