Role Overview

Our client is seeking Senior Service Designers to join their expanding digital consultancy practice. The role involves shaping end‑to‑end services, evaluating organisational ecosystems, and co‑creating solutions that meet the needs of both users and the business. You will work with senior stakeholders, multidisciplinary Agile teams, and play a key role in the strategic planning and delivery of complex service transformations.

As a senior consultant, you will be regarded as a trusted expert—advising on service strategy, guiding delivery teams, and helping clients develop a strong culture of user‑centred design. There will also be opportunities for line management, mentoring and contributing to the wider design community.

This role is suited to professionals ready to deepen their leadership experience while continuing to shape impactful, evidence‑driven services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic planning for new or existing services, ensuring alignment with user needs and organisational goals.
  • Create and communicate service artefacts such as service maps, service blueprints, value propositions and end‑to‑end journeys.
  • Generate, test and develop concepts for new service propositions or improvements to existing services.
  • Translate complex organisational structures, processes and data into clear, visual communication that supports decision‑making.
  • Facilitate workshops and collaborative sessions that bring teams and stakeholders together towards a shared goal.
  • Oversee delivery activities across technical, operational and organisational boundaries, ensuring work is delivered at pace.
  • Act as a service delivery lead when required, managing project dependencies, risks and cross‑team collaboration.
  • Develop capability within client organisations and within your own team, through mentoring and knowledge‑sharing.
  • Contribute to the service design community through thought leadership, events, recruitment and internal initiatives.

Candidate Profile

  • Deep experience designing or improving end‑to‑end services across diverse sectors.
  • Strong background working with service owners, product teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to use user research insights, service design methods and analysis to support decisions.
  • Strong relationship‑building skills with the ability to manage competing expectations.
  • Advanced understanding of Agile delivery and how multidisciplinary teams support service design.
  • Ability to manage challenges with authenticity, diplomacy and confidence.
  • Experience simplifying complex, cross‑departmental systems through visual storytelling and structured analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while supporting wider strategic goals.
  • Experience working with Government Digital Service (GDS) standards or within the UK public sector.
  • Background in one or more related disciplines such as:
    • Business analysis
    • Product management
    • Business architecture
  • Familiarity with designing for accessibility, inclusion and assisted digital needs.
