This is a remote position open to candidates residing in the United Kingdom. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Work with product managers, designers, firmware, and infrastructure engineers to design, build, test, and deliver end-to-end products
  • Develop skills across multiple technologies in our stack (Go, GraphQL, Typescript, JavaScript, React, React Native). Direct experience with these technologies is not required
  • Solve real-life problems and optimize fleets globally
  • Coach, mentor and guide engineers in the team, supporting your own personal development
  • Maintain production systems owned by your team and provide operational support
  • Grow as an engineer in an engineering-first organisation with room for progression
  • Participate in on-call rotation and outage investigations in the team’s domain
  • Champion and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (focus on customer success, long-term thinking, growth mindset, inclusivity, teamwork)

Minimum requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Experience working with a team to develop customer-focused products
  • Strong programming fundamentals in Java, Python, Golang, or JavaScript
  • Experience designing, building and maintaining large-scale systems
  • Experience operating, maintaining, and enhancing large-scale application services
  • Ability to estimate, communicate, and deliver milestones with your team

An ideal candidate also has

  • Experience with Go, JavaScript, TypeScript, or similar languages
  • Familiarity with multi-tier architectures (React frontends and microservices)
  • Contributed to delivering significant value to customers
  • Curiosity about customers and a drive to improve daily experiences
  • Desire to iterate on new products based on customer feedback
