Staff Software Engineer | GO/Python | £600‑£800/day | Outside IR35

Burns Sheehan is partnering with a well‑funded scale‑up in the biotechnology sector that develops software to support autonomous robotics. The company is building autonomous, fully customisable technology to enable critical workflows, improving efficiency, reducing errors, and easing workload. Your role will be part of a new squad tasked with building platform features that allow customers to create and run scientific workflows.

You will work at the intersection of backend, cloud, and frontend, with a backend‑heavy focus, contributing to the 0‑1 development of a high‑throughput, real‑time core backend platform. You will be a hands‑on contributor who can move fluidly across the stack while also influencing architectural design.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain scalable backend components in Go (Golang) and Python.
• Design and implement event‑driven, microservices‑based architectures using Kubernetes and Docker.
• Develop real‑time or streaming systems that can handle very high throughput demands.
• Collaborate with DevOps to manage Kubernetes clusters and continuous delivery pipelines.
• Influence the architecture and design of applications, ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability.

Qualifications

• Proven experience building scalable software in Go or Python.
• Strong understanding of Kubernetes, Docker, event‑driven patterns, and microservices architecture.
• Experience developing high‑throughput, real‑time or streaming systems.
• Ability to contribute across the stack and drive architectural decisions.

Base Pay Range

£600‑£800 per day
