Job Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our team and play a critical role in developing and maintaining the ground infrastructure software that powers Eutelsat Group's global LEO-GEO satellite operations. Working at Eutelsat Group is challenging and rewarding in equal measure, the workload is substantial, the pace is fast, and the exposure to cutting-edge technology is unparalleled. You'll be involved in developing software that supports our satellite operations, network operations, customer provisioning, and customer user terminals (UTs). The role requires flexibility to handle multiple projects and ability to context switch is a must. Passionate about software engineering, you excel in designing and delivering scalable, reliable, and secure systems. You enjoy working on diverse, high-impact projects, from mission-critical operational tools to large-scale infrastructure platforms. Curious and collaborative, you adapt quickly, solve problems effectively, and bring strong communication skills to cross-functional teamwork.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and maintain production-grade software.
- Work on systems for the Network Operations Center (NOC) and Satellite Operations Center (SOC), including provisioning, resource management, mission planning, and operational control.
- Contribute to architecture decisions for scalable, cloud-native, microservices-based solutions.
- Apply CI/CD, DevSecOps, and automated testing practices for high quality software.
- Ensure performance, reliability, and security in mission-critical environments.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate operational needs and business requirements into robust technical implementations.
- Participate in iterative, sprint-based development cycles and Agile ceremonies (planning, review, retrospectives).
- Mentor peers and promote engineering best practices, contributing to a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
What You'll Need
- 7+ years in software engineering, delivering complex distributed systems.
- Strong proficiency in any modern programming language (Python, Java, Go, etc.) we value depth of knowledge over specific stacks. You'll have the opportunity and support to learn new languages as part of the role.
- Proficiency in highly scalable web services and API design.
- Proficiency in working with both SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Proficiency with AWS or other cloud platforms; orchestration frameworks (e.g., Kubernetes).
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, test automation, and secure development practices.
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or proven experience building software at a professional level.
- Complementary skills: front end development experience.
- Nice to haves: experience with mission-critical or industrial-grade systems; familiarity with satellite operations; basic understanding of networking and telecommunication standards (TCP/IP, LTE, 5G).
