Senior Software Engineer
Location: London (hybrid, mostly on-site)
Our client is a global technology business developing next-generation data management solutions for the energy sector. They’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join their in-house product team, working on a major initiative that’s redefining how complex data is handled across geoscience applications.
This role offers real ownership and visibility. You’ll join a small, collaborative team responsible for the full product lifecycle, from architecture to delivery, with freedom to influence technical direction and shape a high-impact solution used globally.
The role
- Build backend services using Go and C#, contributing to a modular, service- and event-driven architecture
- Work with distributed messaging systems, RESTful APIs, and modern frontend frameworks (Vue, React, or Angular)
- Manage relational databases (SQL Server, SQLite, PostgreSQL) and support data visualisation through dashboards and web interfaces
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and participate in defining authentication and access control strategies
- Collaborate closely with a small team of developers and testers to deliver scalable, high-performance systems
Qualifications
- 6–8 years of experience in software development
- Strong backend experience, ideally with exposure to modern frontend frameworks
- Skilled in at least one modern programming language (Go, C#, Python, etc.)
- Confident with relational databases and understanding of database design and optimisation
- Knowledge of distributed systems, service-oriented architecture, and event-driven design
- Familiar with version control (Git) and CI/CD workflows
- Enjoys problem-solving, collaboration, and taking ownership of delivery
