Overview
Haymarket's new brand, In.Comms, a sister publication to our long-standing title PRWeek, is looking for a talented Senior Staff Writer. In.Comms will be the go-to resource for in-house communications professionals. The senior writer will deliver daily news, features and other content on the brand’s website, manage the production of daily and specialist newsletters, post to social media, and contribute ideas and articles across all channels. This is a role for an ambitious journalist, potentially in their second or third journalistic role, with a keen, enquiring mind, an interest in politics, economics and business, and the drive to seek out exclusives and award-winning articles.
Responsibilities
- Writing daily online news, features, interviews, or other articles
- Researching potential articles and building knowledge to contribute ideas that develop the news agenda
- Commissioning and editing articles from freelancers and opinion writers
- Using the in-house software program to build daily email newsletters and posting content to social media
- Attending events and building contacts among the communications profession and wider business world
- Getting involved in the production of podcasts by contributing ideas and/or joining interviews
- Monitoring the editorial inbox, handling queries, and undertaking administrative tasks
Skills / Experience / Minimum Criteria
- A relevant degree or equivalent experience, such as NCTJ
- Strong writing and copy-editing skills, excellent attention to detail, and ability to produce accurate content to tight deadlines
- A strong interest in news and current affairs, particularly the business world
- Excellent knowledge of social media and digital journalism
- Ability to multitask, manage own workload, and collaboratively contribute when required
- Solid communication and organisational skills
