The Role:

Reporting to the R&D Tax Manager, you’ll take ownership of client engagements for innovative software and technology companies. This is a highly client-facing role requiring both deep R&D tax knowledge and technical fluency.

Senior R&D Tax Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Lead client engagements for software and technology businesses, including startups and scale-ups
  • Analyse technical projects to identify claimable R&D activities
  • Translate complex technical work into clear guidance for non-technical stakeholders
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share knowledge and improve processes
  • Ensure compliance with the UK R&D Tax Incentive Scheme
  • Support the wider team in technical reviews, claims preparation, and client reporting
  • Join a fast-growing, innovative R&D tax consultancy with a supportive, collaborative culture
  • Hybrid working in London preferred, but fully remote considered for the right candidate based in the UK
  • Trust-based, autonomy-driven environment with minimal micromanagement
  • Opportunity to work with cutting-edge software companies and make a real impact
  • Be part of a team that values knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and continuous learning

Senior R&D Tax Specialist Requirements:

  • 4+ years’ experience in R&D tax consultancy
  • Degree or equivalent in a software-related field (Computer Science, Software Engineering, DevOps, AI/ML, Front/Back/Full Stack Development)
  • Strong technical proficiency in modern programming languages or demonstrable software engineering experience
  • Excellent communication skills – able to explain technical topics to non-technical clients
  • Collaborative, team-oriented, and comfortable working autonomously
  • Experience in a client-facing, fast-paced environment
