Overview

Our client, a leading UK insurer, is seeking an experienced Senior Test Manager to play a pivotal role in delivering enterprise-level quality engineering and testing initiatives across large, transformational programmes.

This is an exciting opportunity for a technically skilled and strategically minded professional with deep expertise in Quality Engineering (QE) best practices, London Market systems, and testing methodologies. The successful candidate will help shape and implement the organisation’s testing strategy across complex business systems, ensuring robust and efficient testing practices that drive quality and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of test strategies, plans, and execution frameworks in alignment with the organisation’s QE policies and guardrails.
  • Oversee functional and non-functional testing across a complex portfolio of London Market systems and data platforms.
  • Collaborate closely with the GCS business area to support end-to-end testing activities and ensure effective delivery of transformation initiatives.
  • Manage and guide in-house and offshore testing teams, promoting collaboration, consistency, and performance excellence.
  • Implement and optimise test automation tools and frameworks to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Support the ongoing evolution of enterprise testing standards, processes, and governance.
  • Act as a key point of contact between business and technology teams, ensuring alignment across all stages of the SDLC (Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall).
  • Provide leadership on quality metrics, test coverage, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Extensive hands-on testing experience in London Market systems, including EDI message processing and data platform testing.
  • Strong understanding of Lloyd’s Syndicate business processes, including Bureau applications and Blueprint 2.
  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional testing teams across onshore and offshore environments.
  • Deep knowledge of testing principles, methodologies, and automation tools.
  • Practical experience working with multiple SDLC models (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall).
  • ISTQB certification (mandatory).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to operate across business and technical functions.
  • Strategic thinker with a detail-oriented, analytical mindset and strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Competitive salary range (£65,000–£75,000 depending on location and experience).
  • Bonus opportunity: up to 6% of annual salary based on performance.
