The Vacancy
Reporting to the Head of Capital Management, the ‘Senior Treasury Analyst – Capital’ will be a key SME in relation to all things Capital (Internal & External). The role will go beyond supporting the day-to-day management of capital to include supporting on the optimisation of the Group/Banks capital structure, management of risk exposures and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Support the Head of Capital Management in BAU activities in monitoring, reporting of internal and external capital requirements, to include allocation and consumption by businesses.
- Monthly capital reporting (actuals & forecast) to ensure timely MI to Senior Management, Forums and Committees.
- Support the Head of Capital Management and Group Treasurer in the interaction with, and regular updates to, debt investors and credit rating agencies, developing materials that help articulate the position of the Group’s Capital both now and in the future (aligned to the Corporate Plan).
- Support the development and maintenance of the Group’s capital management framework and related risk appetites and monitoring developments in UK prudential standards.
- Support the Head of Capital Management in providing impact analysis and implementation of regulatory change and other regulatory change initiatives i.e. Basel 3.1 & SDDT.
- Monitor and communicate capital requirements, adequacy, and consumption through Treasury Management Forum (TMF) and ALCO reporting.
- Support the review of business proposals to help identify and address the impact on capital requirements and liaise within the team and other support functions to ensure these are considered for regulatory reporting and capital management purposes.
- Support the Head of Capital Management coordinate the ICAAP and development of capital stress testing with FP&A, finance and risk teams.
- Support the production of the Group’s Individual Capital Adequacy Assessment Process and the monitoring and oversight of capital adequacy and so be familiar with credit risk, operational risk, concentration risk, interest rate risk and financial planning and analysis, and confident coordinating and collaborating with stakeholders across various functions (outside Treasury) of the Group.
- Support the Head of Capital Management with economic analysis with a focus on capital relating to M&A activity, portfolio acquisitions & disposals, and capital allocation and consumption.
- The role will allow the Senior Treasury Analyst – Capital to develop and improve their specialist knowledge through on-the-job and structured learning (CertBALM).
Experience required
- Expertise in managing data (primarily Excel) and very strong attention to detail, with an equal focus on effectively communicating key messages both within and outside Treasury.
- A background working in a UK Bank or Building Society, within Finance/Treasury with exposure to Capital understanding, monitoring and reporting, and/or significant exposure to Capital through FP&A is a preferred, as the role holder should have a strong understanding of capital (resources, requirements, key ratios and constraints etc) for banks, with knowledge of forthcoming regulatory change.
- Appetite for learning and knowledge sharing, with the opportunity to participate in structured learning (CertBALM) alongside the day-to-day role.
- Effective communication and the ability to build trust and influence at senior management level.
- Understanding of financial markets, financial instruments, debt instruments accounting principles.
- Excellent time management and organisational ability.
- Ability to influence stakeholders.
- Track record of developing and delivering process improvement.
