Senior Underwriter - Health & Care role at Travelers Europe. We are seeking an experienced property and casualty underwriter to join our specialised Health & Care team in any of our UK offices. This role offers the chance to transition into an engaging sector with development support – no prior Health & Care experience required.

This role involves taking responsibility for some of our largest renewals, strategically partnering and building relationships with brokers and clients to provide insurance solutions. You’ll be a technical underwriter who is decisive, detail-oriented, and able to build relationships internally and externally and negotiate terms to drive results.

Travelers Europe offers a hybrid work arrangement: three days in the office and two days at home (full-time, pro rata for part-time). Policy details may be updated at the company’s discretion.

What Will You Do

• Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business primarily comprising moderate to complex accounts across all products.
• Underwrite and negotiate moderate to complex risks to minimise risk and maximise profitability, including Mid Term Adjustments (MTA).
• Proactively manage your portfolio, ensure key performance indicators are achieved, and actively target new business and retention.
• Identify and take corrective action based on portfolio risk characteristics to actively manage your risk.
• Identify and capture opportunities to write additional lines of business using knowledge of products, risk characteristics and appetite.
• Proactively utilise various technology platforms to quote and bind risk efficiently.
• Prepare, lead and present underwriting reviews for individual policies or portfolios and manage action points.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with internal partners and cross-functional teams to identify cross-selling opportunities.
• Foster and maintain relationships with brokers by phone, email or other channels to market and sell Travelers products with the goal of writing and retaining accounts aligned with our risk appetite. Travel to meetings as required.
• Develop and execute retention plans and support the new business teams to win business that aligns with the team’s sales plans, in partnership with the sales team.
• Train and mentor less experienced underwriters; provide support and collaboration for more junior team members, including referrals.
