Senior/Principal Engineer - Civil

OverviewWe are looking to strengthen our engineering team with a Senior Civil Engineer based at Brighton with hybrid working available. You will report to the Principal and provide engineering design services to minimise risks and maximise value on turnkey and engineering services contracts. You will coordinate the design and produce design documents and drawings, taking due account of health and safety requirements, specifications and standards pertaining to the contract.ResponsibilitiesProduce design layouts which are cost effective, meet the requirements of the specification and can be constructed and commissioned effectively. Consider whole out-turn costs including design time, materials, erection and any impacts on other disciplines.Utilise standard practices where possible; maintain competitiveness; provide estimates and feedback for the Proposals department.Work to procedures and processes to ensure the continuing development of the department; assist in developing and monitoring procedures and processes; write, update and monitor efficient procedures to aid smooth running of the department.Coordinate designs with all other internal and external disciplines to ensure design processes on the contract are coordinated for the contract’s benefit.Maintain files and records throughout the duration of contracts; assure customer satisfaction, recognising that satisfying the customer is key to achieving other objectives.Maintain a personal development plan; assist in supervising and developing staff; help ensure a safe working environment for all staff; reduce waste from departmental activities; ensure designs take account of environmental issues and all health and safety requirements.Essential qualificationsUnderstand the principles of water and sewage treatment.Experience in managing/mentoring staff in designing relevant discipline aspects of water and sewage treatment plants.Membership of a professional institution (chartered or nearing chartership).Preferable: relevant discipline Engineering degree.Minimum: relevant discipline Engineering HND.Ability to rationalise designs and produce economic plant layouts.Good general knowledge of water treatment aspects (mechanical, process, electrical engineering and project management).Flexible mind with the ability to assimilate large amounts of data; ability to present technical proposals clearly, confidently and convincingly.Computer literacy; driving license.Desirable qualificationsWorking towards Chartered Engineer status.Relevant Engineering Master's Degree.About MWH TreatmentMWH Treatment is an integrated design and build provider working in the water sector.
