Job Introduction
Service Manager
Home based with regular travel in the Lincoln, Doncaster and Norwich areas.
Gray Healthcare is looking to recruit a Service Manager responsible for ensuring the financial viability of a portfolio of services across multiple sites in the Lincoln, Doncaster, and Norwich areas.
The role involves managing approximately 900 to 1,000 commissioned hours weekly across four to five support packages, providing direct line management for 30+ support workers, including bank staff.
This includes coaching and mentoring teams to deliver exceptional support, fostering a positive working culture that promotes health and well-being, staff retention, and collaboration.
The Service Manager will focus on business delivery, financial stability, managing rotas, staffing, recruitment, and retention. This is a full-time role requiring 37.5 hours per week, operating on a rotational rota, Monday to Sunday, including on-call duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent Gray Healthcare professionally, embodying its vision and values.
- Oversee profit and loss for each service, meeting budget targets and KPIs.
- Ensure compliance with CQC Inspection Framework.
- Provide leadership for daily operations.
- Ensure outstanding support delivery in line with contracts.
- Use data and innovation to enhance performance.
- Ensure safeguarding is integral to all discussions.
- Engage Support Workers in supervision and appraisals.
- Collaborate with HR, Recruitment, Clinical Support, and Finance teams.
- Manage employee issues and ensure policy compliance.
- Work with Business Development to expand services.
- Coordinate with Mobilisation and Clinical Leads for new business transitions.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years in operations leadership with Level 4+ qualification in Leadership or Management.
- Understanding of issues faced by people with learning disabilities and mental health needs, aligned with CQC standards.
- Risk management expertise.
- Driver with access to a vehicle.
- Knowledge of procurement, contracts, HR, and business management.
- Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills.

- Resilient, capable of working under pressure.
- Relationship-building skills with stakeholders.
- Experience with change management and understanding of funding and contract management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, finance, and client management systems.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Understanding of clinical governance.
