Site Head of HSE – Manufacturing, Global category leader
Job Location: Warrington North West
Pay Range: £60‑65k + £10k Bonus, market‑leading pension
Client: Manufacturing company undergoing a multi‑million investment and expansion
Role Summary
Senior Site HSE Manager – Site Head of HSE responsible for ensuring that site EHS is in line with the global safety agenda. You will build and maintain strong relationships across the site to drive the safety and environment agenda. As the HSE lead for a large site, you will influence and coach employees at all levels to establish a strong safety culture.
- Support the development of the annual HSE plan
- Monitor monthly KPIs and targets
- Deliver technical training
- Manage internal and external audit schedules
- Oversee risk assessments (e.g., PUWER, COSHH)
- Lead the core safety values and leadership principles across all levels of the site
- Lead the development of site risk‑management processes to ensure compliance with legislation, corporate standards, policies and targets
- Lead the development of improvement plans for Safety, Environment, Security and Sustainability
- Drive continuous improvement in risk‑management performance
- Represent the site to regulatory authorities and insurers on EHS matters
- Ensure employees are competent to manage risk and compliance within their areas
- Develop the site management team and supervisors to manage all safety‑critical activities
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience in a Health & Safety Manager role, ideally in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment (FMCG) or general manufacturing
- NEBOSH Certificate/Diploma or equivalent, and preferably an IEMA Certificate in Environmental Management or Foundation level
- Proven experience driving a safety culture
- Excellent understanding of Health, Safety & Environment (legislation, audit handling, management systems)
- Membership with a relevant professional body (e.g., IOSH or IEMA)
- Strong communication, influencing and problem‑solving skills
- Experience training others, performing hazard risk analysis and dealing with legislation
- Experience in HSE within a manufacturing or high‑risk environment
