Overview

Join to apply for the Soft Services Manager role at SBFM. This is a full-time remote role which will require regular travel around the South of the region to client sites from Cambridge to Bristol. There will be flexibility on working hours, with some weekend work and potential longer-distance travel including overnight stays.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implementation of the company strategy to allow us to reach our objectives.
  • Review the financial forecasts and company targets.
  • Lead, motivate and effectively manage your team to implement and deliver company strategies and objectives.
  • Provide clear job roles, responsibilities, objectives and KPIs; give regular feedback and appropriate rewards.
  • Manage underperformance in line with HR guidance, including potential disciplinary action where appropriate.
  • Manage absence of direct reports in line with company policies.
  • Communicate regularly with your region on business objectives, team performance and other relevant issues.
  • Ensure direct and indirect reports understand responsibilities regarding Health & Safety, Environmental, Sustainability and Quality policies.
  • Win new business to meet budget targets and ensure resource utilization.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, contract decision makers, staff and external bodies to aid business development and retention.
  • Attend customer meetings as required.
  • Develop the service offering in line with client requirements; respond to client concerns and implement corrective/preventative actions when required.
  • Improve gross profitability of the region by implementing effective estimating, project management and cost control procedures.
  • Ensure projects meet or exceed financial targets and address any shortfalls.
  • Escalate commercial issues to the Managing Directors where appropriate.
  • Demonstrate proactive compliance with legislative requirements and standards.
  • Ensure organisational arrangements are suitable and communicated across the areas of responsibility.
  • Establish training programmes with health and safety for line managers and operatives to ensure skills and knowledge for roles.
  • Provide the Projects/Operations Director with necessary resources to meet legislative and contractual obligations.
  • Coordinate with the health and safety team to support the Management Health and Safety Plan throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Full Driving Licence
  • Experience managing a large team delivering high-value turnover contracts
  • Knowledge of applying Health and Safety rules and requirements
  • PC literacy with Microsoft Office
  • Commercial Awareness
  • Experience in commercial management and reporting on WIP
  • IOSH Managing Safely qualification or Site Manager Safety Course is desirable but not essential
