Sanderson Government and Defence are working with a leading digital consultancy who have been selected as a strategic delivery partner for a government agency's transformation programme.

They are looking for a Lead Technical Architect to join a high-profile initiative aimed at modernising legacy systems and improving data validation across the client's business gateway.

This is a fully remote role, working within a blended agile team of consultancy and end client staff. You’ll be responsible for shaping technical direction, leading architectural design, and ensuring alignment with the end client's reference architecture.

Responsibilities

• Shape technical direction and lead architectural design
• Ensure alignment with the end client's reference architecture
• Contribute to high-level and low-level designs, architectural governance, and knowledge transfer

Qualifications

• Strong background in technical architecture within large-scale digital programmes
• Deep understanding of API Gateway design and enhancement
• Experience modernising legacy systems and migrating to cloud-native platforms
• Solid grasp of AWS (API Gateway, Lambda, S3, VPC)
• Familiarity with Java, DB2, relational databases, and network concepts
• Prior work within UK government departments
• Ability to mentor and lead technical teams
