Overview

Join us as a Software Engineer at Gallagher Re. You will be involved with designing, creating, testing and deploying web-based software products as part of Gallagher Re's engineering team, serving one of the largest reinsurance brokerages in the world. You will help build world-class software, advise on best practices, and contribute to evolving and improving our code base to stay aligned with industry standards. Security, performance, and accessibility are priorities, and you’ll shape the day-to-day experience of colleagues across Gallagher Re.

The role is location-flexible within the UK, with travel to our London Headquarters once a month for team meetups. Full rights to work in the UK are required, and sponsorship is not offered at this time.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop software products across Gallagher Re in a senior capacity, owning large/complex applications through the full development lifecycle.
• Enhance and refactor existing products using latest .NET and Angular, optimising for cloud-native deployment in Azure.
• Provide coaching and training to colleagues; conduct code reviews; and promote consistent standards and patterns across the team and wider business.
• Support performance and security testing of new and existing codebases; analyse high-level requirements and translate them into development tasks.
• Collaborate with BAs, designers, front-end developers and others to ensure high-quality software; create unit tests for new and existing code.
• Recommend improvements to development methodologies and implement them as part of continuous improvement.
• Work with 2nd line support to troubleshoot and refactor issues in live systems.

About You

• Detailed knowledge of application development with C#, HTML, CSS and JavaScript, emphasising Angular and RxJS.
• Experience creating and consuming RESTful APIs via C# and JavaScript interfaces.
• Solid knowledge of SQL Server, ORM usage, and SQL stored procedures; experience with bundlers such as Webpack.
• Knowledge across design patterns; CI/CD with Azure DevOps or similar; Azure services (App Service, Function App, Service Bus, Key Vault); knowledge of microservices; E2E testing with Cypress/Selenium/Playwright; Git; and Agile/Scrum.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills; ability to work across multiple, complex product domains.
