Software Engineering Manager | up to £110k | Fully Remote, UK. Pearson Carter are partnering with an industry leading cyber security platform seeking to expand their development team.

Responsibilities

  • Tech Leadership: Drive collaboration and performance across multiple engineering squads by fostering a culture of autonomy, accountability, and technical excellence. Support teams in architectural decisions and scaling best practices.
  • Team Management: Conduct regular one-on-ones, define clear career development paths, and mentor engineers through coaching and feedback.
  • Improve developer workflows and satisfaction by identifying bottlenecks using engineering metrics (e.g., PR throughput, CI speed, deployment frequency) and guiding improvements with tools like getDX.
  • Lead evaluation and integration of AI technologies across engineering. Experiment with and implement LLM-based tools to enhance productivity (e.g., coding assistants, automated documentation/testing).
  • Collaborate with Product, Content, and Data Science to plan, build, and release features that create meaningful impact for users.
  • Build and develop a world-class engineering team.
  • Support the Head of Engineering.

Experience / Qualifications

  • Deep experience with React, Node, TypeScript, MongoDB, Express (MERN Stack).
  • Strong understanding of AWS and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience leading software engineering teams of up to 10 people, ideally across multiple squads or projects.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous or complex problem spaces with a high degree of ownership and autonomy.
  • Clear understanding of what makes a high-performing engineering team, with the ability to foster and support that environment.
  • Salary: up to £110,000 with fully remote working and flexible hours; £2,500 budget for personal development and training; annual company holiday; health insurance where applicable; enhanced maternity and paternity package.

Location

This role is fully remote; you will be working from home 100% of the time. The employer is seeking someone based in the UK and does not require sponsorship.
