hackajob is collaborating with Leonardo to connect them with exceptional tech professionals for this role. The Cyber and Security Division is expanding its Solution Architect team and seeks motivated Junior Solution Architects.

Your Impact

  • Interpret customers’ business objectives and translate them into clear solution requirements, breaking down EPICs into stories to facilitate Agile delivery.
  • Assess current and desired system states, considering diverse stakeholder needs with an inclusive mindset.
  • Define comprehensive use cases from a variety of stakeholder perspectives, including business, users, and operations.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of IT, security, emerging technologies, supplier offerings, and internal capabilities to architect innovative solutions.
  • Apply broad technical expertise and creative problem‑solving to evaluate alternatives and communicate solution architectures that meet functional and non‑functional requirements while integrating effectively within environments.
  • Support managers in developing and delivering transformation and operational plans, proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Translate solutions into high‑level designs for engineering teams, promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Provide technical oversight, guidance and problem‑solving support to operational and delivery teams to maintain high‑quality outcomes and resolve implementation, integration and maintenance challenges.

Responsibilities Include Maintaining Up‑to‑Date Technical Knowledge By

  • Staying informed on evolving technologies to support effective selection.
  • Keeping current with available qualifications and certifications related to technologies used across all systems.
  • Staying abreast of relevant industry standards, policies, methodologies and frameworks.
  • Understanding and applying customer‑preferred or mandated standards, policies, methodologies, and frameworks.
  • Balancing design principles and characteristics drawn from client needs and internal best practices, tailored to specific contracts.

What You’ll Bring

  • UK National with SC clearance and willingness to gain higher clearance levels.
  • Systems infrastructure engineering and architecture design including network, storage, virtualisation, client/server solutions, Windows and Red Hat OS, and high‑availability solutions.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server and Group Policy; security‑enforcing technologies and secure gateway solutions for interconnectivity to external “untrusted” networks.
  • Knowledge of ITIL‑based Service Management technology and processes.
  • Requirements analysis and solution design experience.
  • Experience of the complete systems development lifecycle from requirements/design through to operation/maintenance including transition, migration and disposal.
  • Excellent documentation skills, including initial development and production.

Additional Information

This office‑based role requires working full‑time hours in a demanding environment and may involve travel throughout mainland UK. The position may require travel to Leonardo office or customer locations as required.

Security Clearance

This role is subject to pre‑employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). Additional Personnel Security Controls such as National Security Vetting may apply, potentially requiring the SC or DV checks.
