Smartedge’s Client is looking for an individual to help with their Solution Architect @ Reading (Hybrid Working).

Key area: We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Solution Architect to lead the end-to-end migration of our on‑premises IT infrastructure to Microsoft Azure. This is a critical role that requires extensive hands‑on experience in migrating legacy services and applications.

Responsibilities:

• Migration Strategy & Architecture: Design and lead the development of a comprehensive technical roadmap and architecture for migrating on‑premises services to Azure, including a robust Azure landing zone that defines the core security, governance, and networking for our entire cloud environment.
• Infrastructure & Platform Migration: Oversee the migration of critical on‑premises infrastructure, including Domain Controllers, Certificate Servers, DNS, DHCP, and various file services (DFS, FTP, SFTP), to their corresponding Azure‑native or hybrid solutions.
• Identity & Access Management: Architect the migration of our on‑premises Active Directory and implement a robust IAM strategy in Azure, including a seamless Single Sign‑On (SSO) solution by integrating Okta with Azure Active Directory (Azure AD).
• Cloud Networking & Security: Design and implement a secure Azure networking topology, including Virtual Networks (VNet), subnets, Network Security Groups (NSGs), and Azure Firewall. Establish and manage secure site‑to‑site and client‑to‑site VPN connections, with a focus on integrating Okta RADIUS for secure VPN access.
• Data & File Services Migration: Develop a detailed migration plan for various file shares, including Azure storage solutions like Azure Files or Azure NetApp Files, and integrate these services with existing document management platforms such as Google Drive and AO Docs.
• SAP Workload Migration (Desirable): Advise on and architect the migration of legacy SAP environments, including SAP ECC and SAP M3, to the Azure cloud platform.
• Technical Leadership & Governance: Act as a subject matter expert and provide guidance to internal technical teams and business stakeholders throughout the migration process, ensuring alignment with the established landing zone governance model.
• Automation: Leverage automation tools and scripting (PowerShell, Terraform) to streamline infrastructure as code (IaC) and automate migration tasks.
• Extensive hands‑on experience as a Solution Architect with a focus on on‑premises to Azure cloud migration projects.
• Proven experience designing and implementing Azure landing zones and hybrid cloud environments.
• Expert‑level knowledge of core Azure services including Azure IaaS, Azure Networking, and Azure Active Directory.
• Deep expertise in identity federation and single sign‑on (SSO), with hands‑on experience integrating Okta with Azure AD.
• Strong understanding of traditional on‑premises infrastructure services including Domain Controllers, Certificate Services, DNS, DHCP, and file servers.
• Desirable: Prior experience with SAP on Azure migrations, particularly for legacy systems like SAP ECC or SAP M3.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to design solutions for complex technical challenges.
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert is a strong preference.
