Solutions Architect (Government / Azure)

SR2 is supporting a consultancy partner working a government department on the next phase of an ongoing architecture transformation programme. Following the successful definition of an architecture maturity roadmap and operating model, the team now requires an experienced Solution Architect to help stabilise and strengthen architectural capability within the organisation while piloting new processes and ways of working. This is a hands‑on architecture role that offers the opportunity to shape governance, uplift team maturity, and support the rollout of enterprise‑wide architecture improvements. The environment is Azure‑based, so experience with Azure and Microsoft certifications is advantageous.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the Enterprise Architect in piloting and embedding a new architecture operating model and governance framework
  • Provide end‑to‑end solution architecture input into the project, including design artefacts and governance approvals
  • Act as a pathfinder for new ways of working, ensuring alignment with the architecture maturity roadmap
  • Coach and mentor existing and new Solution Architects, embedding good practice and architectural discipline
  • Contribute to architecture maturity initiatives and continuous improvement activities across the function

Requirements

  • Experience working within UK Government (including GDS programmes) – essential
  • Azure / Microsoft certifications and experience – highly desirable
  • Strong experience delivering solution architecture within complex public sector or regulated environments
  • Deep understanding of enterprise architecture governance, frameworks, and processes
  • Proven track record implementing or improving architecture operating models
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage at all levels
