One of the UK’s largest and most recognised retail brands is embarking on a major digital transformation programme spanning International Retail, Commercial and Supply Chain operations. We’re looking for a Solutions Architect with strong integration design and architecture experience to join their Nottingham-based Architecture team on an initial 3-month contract. You’ll play a key role in shaping complex system integrations, designing high-level solutions, and ensuring architectural standards and governance are upheld across multiple projects. This is a hands‑on architecture role, working closely with cross‑functional teams in a fast‑paced transformation environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver high-quality solution and integration architectures across major business transformation initiatives.
  • Create High-Level Designs (HLDs), models, and other architecture artefacts using tools such as ArchiMate or Sparx EA.
  • Define and govern architecture blueprints, integration patterns, and solution building blocks across multiple technology domains.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architects, Product Owners, Business Analysts, Developers, and Test teams to ensure cohesive and scalable solution delivery.
  • Lead and support cross‑functional teams (Infrastructure, Security, Data, Integration) to ensure end‑to‑end delivery quality.
  • Engage with external vendors and internal stakeholders to validate technical approaches and ensure alignment with enterprise strategy.
  • Support project governance, service introduction, and data governance processes to ensure smooth transition into live operations.

Required Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience as a Solutions Architect in large‑scale enterprise environments.
  • Strong background in system integration architecture, APIs, middleware, and data flows across multiple platforms.
  • Experience designing architectures using modelling languages (e.g. ArchiMate) and frameworks such as TOGAF.
  • Familiarity with Azure or other cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and modern microservices and API‑led integration patterns.
  • Knowledge of architecture building blocks, governance, and design assurance.
  • Hands‑on experience with architecture tools such as ArchiMate, Alfabet, Aris, or Sparx Enterprise Architect.
  • Experience leading design across multiple stakeholders and disciplines.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in Retail or Supply Chain Systems (Forecasting, WMS, OMS, or Inventory).
  • Knowledge of Data Architecture and Canonical Data Models.
  • Familiarity with technologies such as MuleSoft, Software AG, SAP S/4, Salesforce, Witron, or KNAPP.

Why Join

  • Work with one of the UK’s biggest retail brands during a major transformation period.
  • Hybrid working model – 2–3 days onsite in Nottingham.
