We are looking for a Staff Data Scientist in the United Kingdom. This role offers the opportunity to lead the development of predictive models and data‑driven strategies that directly impact business growth and customer experience. You will work with diverse datasets, including commercial and consumer bureau data, to build sophisticated forecasting models for cash flow and risk management. Operating in a fast‑paced, fully remote environment, you will deploy models into production, monitor performance, and refine strategies in response to market changes. Collaborating closely with cross‑functional teams, you will use analytics and experimentation to drive insights that enhance platform functionality, improve customer outcomes, and optimize business performance. This is a high‑impact position requiring strong technical expertise, strategic thinking, and end‑to‑end ownership. Accountabilities
Design, develop, and implement predictive models for business health and cash flow forecasting Integrate diverse data sources, including commercial, bank, and consumer bureau data, to build comprehensive models Deploy and monitor models within MLOps infrastructure, ensuring reliability and performance Continuously fine‑tune strategies and models in response to credit performance, market trends, and macroeconomic factors Conduct exploratory data analysis to uncover insights and prototype new model‑driven features Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align modeling efforts with business objectives and improve the customer experience
Requirements
10+ years of experience in commercial risk management, ideally focused on SMB portfolios in the UK Deep expertise with UK consumer bureau, commercial bureau, and open banking data Hands‑on experience in end‑to‑end model development and deployment lifecycle Proficiency in SQL and at least one scripting language (Python preferred) Familiarity with MLOps tools and platforms such as Chalk, Baseten, Metaflow, SageMaker, or Vertex Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with attention to detail and technical rigor Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining complex concepts clearly Educational background in Statistics, Computer Science, Financial/Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics, or related technical field; Master’s or PhD is a plus
