About the opportunity

Our Defence and Security design and engineering services support nuclear and defence clients across the UK and abroad. We are seeking Structural Engineers with transferable skills who are passionate about developing themselves and tackling new challenges. Our projects include developing solutions through all RIBA stages in highly regulated environments, in support of air, land and sea defence establishments, the UK nuclear submarine fleet, and both existing and new build nuclear power stations.

If you are a Structural Engineer with experience in the analysis and design of large industrial facilities (e.g., power station buildings, large manufacturing facilities, dockyards, etc.), we want to speak with you.

Responsibilities

  • Apply structural engineering principles to projects in regulated defence and nuclear environments.
  • Analyze and design large industrial facilities, including power stations, manufacturing facilities, and dockyards.
  • Develop solutions through all RIBA stages with consideration for safety, quality, budget, and schedule.
  • Prepare bids and proposals; build strong working relationships with clients.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary delivery and adapt to evolving project needs.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards (British, American, international, and Eurocodes) as applicable.

Qualifications

  • Good all-round technical design expertise using British, American and international standards, and/or Eurocodes.
  • Proven ability to manage projects and deliverables, including quality, budget, programme and resources.
  • Good understanding of structural theory with problem-solving ability.
  • Proven ability in preparation of bids and proposals, and developing good working relationships with clients.
  • Good, accredited MEng degree in Civil Engineering or similar.
  • Ideally Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer, or working towards this with support from the employer.

Security clearance

Successful candidates must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance. UK nationality requirements apply; dual nationals are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
