Role Overview
Pride in Health is a not-for-profit, community‑led organisation dedicated to connecting trans, non‑binary, and intersex communities with safe, reliable, and affirming healthcare.
To underpin our commitment to clinical excellence, we are seeking a highly experienced Supervising Psychologist to provide expert, one‑to‑one clinical supervision to our team of dedicated psychologists. This is a vital governance and mentorship role designed to ensure the highest standards of care, support the professional development of our clinicians, and foster a culture of reflective practice. You will be a cornerstone of our clinical governance framework, playing a key role in making Pride in Health a leading provider of affirming care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide regular, one‑to‑one clinical supervision sessions for our Independent Psychologists (conducted remotely).
- Create a safe, supportive, and confidential space for clinicians to reflect on their caseload, discuss complex clinical presentations, and manage the impact of their work.
- Provide expert guidance on clinical best practices, ethical considerations, and therapeutic approaches within the field of gender‑affirming care.
- Support psychologists in their professional development, helping them to enhance their skills and build confidence.
- Act as a senior clinical advisor, providing expert consultation to the MDT on particularly complex cases as needed.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of our clinical supervision policy and framework.
- Work with the Clinical Governance Lead to ensure our psychology service operates safely, effectively, and in line with HCPC standards and industry best practices.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Current and unrestricted registration with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist (e.g., Clinical, Counselling, or Health Psychologist). This is a non‑negotiable requirement.
- A formal qualification in Clinical Supervision (e.g., BPS‑accredited Certificate or Diploma) and/or registration on the BPS Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors (RAPPS).
- Substantial post‑qualification experience as a psychologist, with a significant portion of that time spent providing clinical supervision to other registered psychologists.
- Demonstrable, in‑depth clinical competency and experience in providing gender‑affirming care.
- Ability to secure your own private indemnity insurance that explicitly covers supervisory practice.
- A thorough understanding of clinical governance, professional ethics, confidentiality, and GDPR.
- Right to work in the UK as a self‑employed contractor.
Desirable
- Experience in a senior or lead psychologist role.
- Experience working with LGBTQIA+ and gender‑diverse communities.
- Experience developing and implementing supervision frameworks or policies.
