About the Role At Fairfield House, we are committed to providing a nurturing and supportive environment for the people we support. You will be supporting six males at our residential service, each with a range of support needs including Autism, epilepsy, and mental health needs. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in enhancing their quality of life. Your responsibilities will include: Personalised Support: Providing tailored support to meet the unique needs and preferences of each person we support. This includes assisting with daily living activities, personal care, and promoting independence. Building Relationships: Developing strong, trusting relationships with the people we support, their families, and other professionals involved in their care. Your ability to communicate effectively and empathetically is crucial. Promoting Well-being: Encouraging and facilitating activities that promote physical, emotional, and social well-being. This includes supporting bike riding, boating in Cardiff Bay, day trips to the Brecon Beacons and Gower, and helping the people we support learn new independent skills both domestically and socially. Social Integration: Helping the people we support to build new friendships and maintain existing relationships, fostering a sense of community and belonging. Health and Safety: Ensuring the safety and well-being of the people we support by following all health and safety guidelines and protocols. This includes administering medication, monitoring health conditions, and responding to emergencies. Team Collaboration: Working collaboratively with other staff members to provide consistent and high-quality support. This includes attending team meetings, participating in training sessions, and sharing best practices. Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining accurate records of the support provided, including daily logs, incident reports, and care plans. This ensures that the support is tailored and responsive to the changing needs of the people we support. Advocacy: Acting as an advocate for the people we support, ensuring their voices are heard and their rights are respected. This includes supporting them in making informed choices and accessing community resources. Effective Communication Skills: The ability to communicate clearly and compassionately, building positive relationships with the people we support, their families, and other professionals. Flexibility and Adaptability: The ability to adapt to different routines and provide support tailored to each person's unique requirements. Teamwork: The ability to work as part of a team and collaborate effectively with other staff members and professionals. Willingness to Learn: A commitment to ongoing training and development, including supporting people with specific health needs such as Epilepsy and Dysphagia. Desirable Skills: Experience or knowledge of using communication methods for people with hearing impairments and a valid driving licence. Your Rewards Full and part-time posts are available, with a full-time basic salary of £26,280. Earn approximately an additional £3,000 per year by completing 1 weekly sleep-in shift (£6,000 for 2 sleep-in shifts a week!). Availability of overtime - e.g., 1 extra shift per week can earn you an additional £5,000 per year. Holiday Scheme: Annual leave starting at 22 days, plus Bank Holidays (increasing to 26 days). Sleep-in Shifts: Paid at £60 per night in addition to the basic salary. Occupational Sick Pay: Up to 3 months full pay and 3 months half pay. DBS Certificate and SCW Registration: Costs covered by the company. Induction, Support, and Development: Fully funded comprehensive induction, ongoing training, and qualification in Health & Social Care.
