Talent Advisor (Global Talent Acquisition)

We are delighted to be one of only 12 UK research-focused higher-education institutions to be awarded a £4.35 million share of the recently announced Global Talent Fund! As a result of this we have an extremely exciting and very unique opportunity for a Talent professional to come and join us to lead and deliver our international academic recruitment ambitions, coordinating all international recruitment activity across the university, ensuring a consistent, strategic approach that supports the delivery of the Global Talent Fund objectives.

As Talent Advisor, you will be responsible for designing and implementing a structured, data-informed recruitment strategy that targets global academic and research talent to ensure our delivery of the Global Talent Fund objectives. Your focus will be on proactively identifying, engaging, and securing high-potential individually, particularly mid-career researchers and professors who can build and lead high-performing research teams in alignment with our institutional priorities.

This role could be a great fit for you if you have deep expertise in international recruitment, a proven ability to navigate global academic hiring cycles, understand regional talent markets, and experience delivering tailored campaigns that go beyond traditional advertising.

About The Role

Working closely with the Head of Talent Acquisition, Talent Acquisition Specialist and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research and Enterprise), you will shape and implement a recruitment strategy that maximises impact across four key industrial strategy areas. We aim to recruit 10 -15 academic posts over two years, with approximately half in the first year and at least one within the first few months.

You will develop an internal international planning framework that maps academic hiring cycles and peak recruitment periods across key regions including North America, Europe, Asia, and Australasia. This will inform a calendar of major discipline-specific conferences, job boards, and advertising opportunities, enabling well-timed campaigns and multiple hires.
