About the role
As a Team Lead – Portfolio Management, you will lead the team responsible for managing the ongoing performance and servicing of the loan book. This includes oversight of covenant monitoring, compliance reporting, restructures, extensions, redemptions, arrears, and recoveries. You will ensure operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and strong customer outcomes, while driving team performance, efficiency, and continuous improvement across all portfolio management activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Portfolio Operations team, ensuring timely and accurate servicing of loans throughout their lifecycle.
- Oversee covenant testing and compliance reporting, ensuring borrowers meet obligations and activities align with internal policies.
- Manage restructures, extensions, redemptions, and variations, ensuring decisions are well-informed, customer-focused, and aligned with the Bank’s risk appetite and commercial objectives.
- Oversee arrears management, driving early engagement and effective resolution strategies to minimize risk exposure.
- Lead recovery efforts for non-performing loans, collaborating with internal stakeholders and external partners to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping and workflow management through internal systems, including nCino, maintaining data integrity and audit readiness.
- Monitor team performance against SLAs and KPIs, fostering a high-performance, execution-focused culture.
- Collaborate with Risk, Compliance, and Legal teams to ensure servicing activities meet regulatory and governance standards.
- Support process improvement and automation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, consistency, and scalability.
- Coach and develop team members, fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in lending operations, with strong knowledge of portfolio management, arrears, and recoveries.
- Proven leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to manage teams and drive high performance.
- Strong understanding of covenant monitoring, loan variations, and effective customer relationship management.
- Proven experience in debt handling, restructures, and recoveries within a regulated lending environment.
- Proficient in using internal systems to manage workflows and maintain accurate records; familiarity with nCino or similar platforms is advantageous.
- Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
