The Team Leader role will be based in our Investigations and Disruption Team (IDT), within the Environmental Markets and Regulation department (EM&R). You will lead a dispersed team and be responsible for service delivery, performance and resilience.

IDT are a national team with investigators and officers based across England, ensuring a consistent disruptive approach to waste fraud across the country.

The EM&R department ensures that companies are disposing of their waste correctly by enforcing government regulations- ‘right waste, right place’ and IDT work closely with our compliance colleagues across the department to prevent and investigate waste fraud.

You will be key to leading, managing and supporting a team of investigators and officers, to enable them to fulfil their roles of delivering on disruption and enforcement.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. The team

Environmental Markets and Regulation is a supportive and inclusive department that encourages our teams’ health, safety, wellbeing, and development. We aim to improve the quality of recycling and ensure waste entering and leaving the country is handled appropriately for recycling and recovery. We help to protect and improve the environment by regulating industry, ensuring compliance, and eliminating illegal activities.

Key areas we regulate: Packaging Waste, Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment, Batteries and International Waste Shipments.

Interviews for this role are expected to take place at the start of August in person in Birmingham. Further details will be communicated nearer the time.

You will need to be comfortable with working in a dispersed team. The Environment Agency utilise a hybrid working approach, including office and home working. National travel for training and meetings in is expected.
