About Police Digital Service
The Technical Business Analyst role operates within the National Standards function which provides policing with a key service.
The service is a combination of technology, governance, overseeing standards communities and working with national bodies/government to promote convergence, in support of the successful and timely delivery of the ambitions described in the National Policing Digital Strategy.
The role has the scope to exert significant influence over the whole of the digital estate within UK policing. Adoption of standards offers significant benefits and cost savings across UK policing, including improved speed of delivery and improved interoperability. The National Standards team will work directly with Policing to guide them through the adoption of standards and remove barriers preventing their rollout.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage the platform that hosts and promotes data and technical standards ensuring that it remains useful and usable for Policing. Knowledge of current Policing strategy and regulations is beneficial to ensure the content on the platform remains relevant.
- Research latest developments in data and technology that may impact the adoption of standards within Policing.
- Assist in the running of the National Standards Assurance Board (NSAB) and the National Standards Governance Board. The NSA may occasionally step in as the chair of the NSAB when the NSL is unavailable.
- Manage the processes, procedures and workflows that allow Policing to access the standards and request assistance from the National Standards team.
- Ensure that an active community of practitioners across a range of categories (such as forensics, data and security) is maintained. Practitioners are essential for promoting standards within their own forces and organisations, they also provide significant input into the standards that are available on the platform.
- Oversee the development of new standards.
- Work directly with government, academia and other independent bodies that can influence data & technical standards; promote convergence and work to reduce duplication of effort in the development of new standards.
What you need to succeed in the role
- Extensive experience across policing, law enforcement or criminal justice.
- Evidence of an excellent analytical background.
- Evidence of excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Ability to negotiate and influence decision making in an environment without direct authority over others.
- Evidence of effective stakeholder management, able to manage and communicate with stakeholders of varying levels of seniority.
- Ability and confidence to work and think independently as well as part of a team.
- Ability to act with discretion, maintaining confidentiality where appropriate

Working Arrangements
This is a remote role.
All applicants must be eligible to undergo NPPV3 (Non Police Personnel Vetting Level 3 )and SC vetting clearances. Successful applicants will require NPPV3 clearance to have been cleared before starting with PDS.
