Technical Claims Team Leader - Recovery | Hastings Direct | Location: Bexhill (Hybrid - one day a week in the office)

We provide insurance for over four million customers and value our 4Cs culture. This role sits within the Claims Recovery Department and involves leading a team of 10-14 colleagues. The Team Leader is responsible for managing day-to-day activity, ensuring claims are handled accurately and in line with internal standards and regulatory requirements.

A key part of the role is supporting the development and performance of the team through structured coaching and feedback, while maintaining a positive and engaged working environment. The Team Leader also contributes to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline processes and reduce inefficiencies. Working closely with other departments and stakeholders, the role requires a collaborative approach to ensure consistency in service delivery and alignment with wider business objectives.

Job details

  • Set and manage annual and monthly objectives for team members, ensuring regular performance reviews and one-to-one meetings.
  • Handle all HR-related matters in line with company policies, including timely completion of annual PDRs.
  • Provide monthly coaching, development plans, and lead effective team meetings to drive performance, engagement, and support colleague growth.
  • Ensure accurate reserving and payment authorisations in line with departmental guidelines and service level agreements.
  • Monitor team compliance through regular audits and adherence to work condition reports and SLAs.
  • Oversee technical referrals, complaint handling, and coordinate with training teams to ensure appropriate support and development for all colleagues.
