Job Description
We have an opportunity for a Technical Director to lead infrastructure planning projects across the UK, with a focus on DCO projects. Due to recent wins and new opportunities, we are looking to expand our planning consents team. Our portfolio includes major infrastructure projects, including renewables, energy, transport, defence, and water sectors.
As part of our national Town Planning team, you will have a diverse workload, lead technical solutions, and support project delivery. We value hybrid working and flexible base locations.
Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: Provide technical direction, lead reviews, and manage major projects, including DCO and NSIP development applications.
- People Development & Mentoring: Support junior staff, promote inclusion, and foster a respectful team environment.
- Governance: Act as lead verifier for quality assurance on design projects, ensuring client expectations are met.
- Commercial & Technical Support: Demonstrate commercial awareness, manage risks, and oversee project delivery within budget and schedule.
- Bid Support: Contribute to bid development, oversee team deliverables, and uphold quality and safety standards.

Qualifications
- Extensive experience in development consent applications, especially DCO regime.
- Strong client focus, communication, and collaborative skills.
- Proven consultancy experience in multi-disciplinary environments.
- Established client relationships and business development skills.
- Knowledge of Environmental Impact Assessment and related processes.
- Degree and Chartered Member of RTPI.
